THE LION TAMER is the latest in the silent movie repertoire of the award winning Bash Street Theatre from Penzance, in Cornwall. A melodrama full of action, pathos and silent comedy from a bygone era, THE LION TAMER combines circus skills, slapstick comedy and an original musical score, to bring you a black and white movie show from the golden age of the silver screen.
A down-at-heel showman is rapidly running out of acts for his travelling circus when a stranger arrives in town. When the lion tamer has an unfortunate accident, the newcomer is ‘volunteered’ for the job with comic and catastrophic results.
THE LION TAMER, inspired by the comic genius of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, has been specially designed to tour village halls and small-scale theatres.

Bash Street Theatre

Established in 1991 Bash Street has an international reputation for delivering exciting and dynamic street theatre shows. Using live music, silent comedy and physical theatre, the company weaves stunts and circus skills into stories of heroes and villains.

"Funny, clever, intricately designed, a beautiful evocation of the Silent Movie genre."
Charlie Pugh, The Tolmen Centre, Cornwall

"A great show. Classic characters, funny and full of surprises."
Tim Smithies, director of Carn to Cove, rural touring scheme
