Bash Street Theatre Company produces inventive and fast-moving comic-strip shows, featuring a fusion of live music, physical theatre and circus skills. Street shows, walkabouts and mid-scale productions are toured to indoor/outdoor venues and festivals throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.

Mad Dogs and Englishmen....

People are often slightly confused when, having asked the queston "Did you have a good summer?" they are confronted with a glazed expression, and the reply "Yes.......we think so."

The truth of the matter is that at the end of a busy season, things that happened only a few weeks ago already seem a distant memory.

The speedo on our van records that we travelled nearly 35,000 kilometers. Our diary shows we performed in Denmark, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Italy, Spain, Portugal (twice), France and Germany; and we also transported our CLIFFHANGER! show to a street theatre festival in Israel. But quite when and how all this was done is something of a blur. We know that we spent the end of September being very tired!

Some memorable moments: Simon being bitten by a wild dog in Transylvania (resulting in anti-rabies injections across three different countries - and lots of bad werewolf jokes) and being robbed while sleeping in the van in northern Italy (we didn't find out until we had arrived in France!). There were lots of people carrying guns in Israel, and lots of horses pulling carts in Romania. It was very wet in Warsaw, and very (very) hot in Portugal. We went canoeing in the Czech Republic and sailing on the Algarve. We watched the gondoliers from the Rio Alto bridge in Venice, swam in the Dead Sea and sipped champagne in Picardie.

Everywhere we went we were received with great warmth, kindness and enthusiasm, from promoters and audiences alike. Oh, and we did manage to travel back to the UK a few times, to perform at: the National Theatre, Weston super Mare, Devizes, Barton upon Humber, Market Harborough, Chelmsford and Norwich - and even closer to home, at the beautiful Budock Vean Hotel here in Cornwall.

As soon as our summer programme had finished, we were straight into rehearsals for our indoor production of THE LION TAMER which is on tour once again this autumn and into the spring of 2012.

We have also been busy planning a new outdoor summer show for 2012, with a working title of THE CIRCUS GIRL. We are still looking for a few more co-comissioners to help fund the project, and we have been successful with our Arts Council grant application.

One final note is that sadly we have parted company with musician Julian Gaskell after two fantastic years of collaboration, and wish him all the best with his future projects. We welcome Seamas Carey, who will be playing piano for THE LION TAMER and we hope will also be touring with us in 2012.

Please visit our website for a tour schedule, and contact us as soon as possible if you would like to book any of our shows. Next summer we expect to be performing more in the UK, so get in contact with us as soon as possible to pencil in your dates. We will be touring both CLIFFHANGER! and THE STATION.
